Why We Love these 6 Cat Books (And You Should, Too!)

Published by

Fall is the perfect time of year to stay in and curl up on the couch with a good book, cup of tea, a fuzzy blanket, and a cat (or three). Our current office coffee table literature just happen to be all about cats. Their genres range from behavioural advice to a hilarious adult colouring book. Here are six of our favorites:

1. Lazy-Ass Cats: A coloring book for adults. Snoozing & Boozing Kitties to Color and Relax by Lindsay Conner

No, colouring isn’t just for the Pre-K crowd! This colouring book is filled with cheeky scenes of kitties doing human activities (okay, and there might be some lighthearted dog-bashing). It’s a great way to spend a rainy day or de-stress.

2. Caticons: 4,000 Years of Art Imitating Cats by Sandy Lerner

Caticons is one woman’s collection of cat items from over a thirty-year period. Her impressive (and not to mention enviable) assortment includes ancient clay mugs, paintings, books, kitchen gadgets and jewelry. Every room in her home is adorned with these cat-crazy artifacts. Talk about serious #housegoals.

3. Poetry From Scratch by Jennifer McCartney

Even cat sceptics will find this tongue-in-cheek poem collection written “by cats” undeniably hilarious. Not only are the poems creative, but the book itself is beautifully bound with thick paper and a (quite appropriately) fuzzy cover. It’s the puurrfect gift for any cat lover in your life (or for you, ‘cause…treat yo’ self).

4. City the Kitty by Lori Shepler

Written and photographed by City’s mom, who used to work a high-profile photography job, this beautiful image collection sends a strong message against declawing and offers great advice on life in general.

5. Total Cat Mojo: The ultimate guide to life with your cat by Jackson Galaxy with Mikel Delgado

Is your kitty peeing outside the litter box, scratching furniture, or otherwise seeming unhappy in her environment? This very informative guide helps you understand the “why” behind your kitty’s behaviours so that you can ensure that everyone in your house - human and feline - can live in blissful harmony.

6. Shop Cats of New York by Tamar Arslanian and Andrew Marttila

Recently our friends Andrew and Tamar celebrated the one-year anniversary of their book, a hilariously-written collection of stories behind NYC shop cats accompanied by beautiful, full-colour photographs. It’s like Humans of New York, but for kitty lovers. Puurrilliant.
