For every meowbox sold, meowbox donates a can of cat food, or monetary equivalent to a shelter or rescue. This month, we donated to Michigan Cat Rescue, located in St. Clair Shores, MI.

Founded in April 2003, Michigan Cat Rescue has since saved thousands of cats and kittens from situations of abuse, abandonment and neglect. Operated entirely by a small number of dedicated volunteers, the organization places all felines into loving foster homes until they find their forever families. Many of their cats were at risk of being euthanized at high-kill shelters that lacked the space or resources to care for them.

Clairessa, a sweet and talkative house panther currently available for adoption, was rescued from death row by Michigan Cat Rescue with her three kittens. At only one-year-old, she’s still patiently waiting for her adopter.

Purcilla is another cat who was brought to Michigan Cat Rescue with nowhere else to go. She lost an eye due to suspected abuse, but her traumatic history doesn’t hamper her playfulness and love for humans.

MCR’s current featured Cat of the Month is Officer Pancakes, a “playful…sweet and just an all-around happy cat.”

To provide each and every cat with the thorough care and veterinary attention they deserve, Michigan Cat Rescue relies heavily on donations and community support. To make a personal donation, or to see more cats that are available for adoption at MCR, visit micatrescue.wixsite.com.
