For every meowbox sold, meowbox donates a can of cat food, or monetary equivalent to a shelter or rescue. This month, we donated to SCAT Street Cat Rescue, located in Saskatoon, SK.

SCAT Street Cat Rescue has been saving over 300 cats a year from the streets of Saskatoon since the charity was established in 1996. Focusing on the most vulnerable felines (pregnant cats, kittens, and those with medical conditions), SCAT provides rescues with any required veterinary care and places them in foster homes until they’re adoption-ready.

Here are some of the cats and kittens currently up for adoption at SCAT Street Cat Rescue:

Hamburger

Though it takes her some time to adjust to new surroundings, Hamburger is full of personality and affection. She likes head rubs, empty bath tubs, and playing with other cats.

Yorcat

Yorcat was abandoned in a remote area outside of the city, left for death in a carrier. He somehow escaped and was found terrified and timid. He has since blossomed into a playful, friendly and loving boy who bonds well with other cats.

Wild Child

Wild Child was rescued from the streets of Saskatoon with his mom and three siblings. He might be shy at first, but will open up with some time and love.

Saskatchewan’s freezing winters, combined with the city’s strict no-roaming bylaws, makes SCAT’s work all the more pivotal to Saskatoon’s feline rescue scene. As a registered nonprofit, SCAT relies on the help of kindhearted donors and volunteers.
